Flare Time Series Oracle
The Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO) is a decentralized oracle service on the Flare Network that provides accurate and timely price feeds for various assets. It aggregates data from many independent data providers to produce reliable on-chain pricing. With the launch of FTSOv2, there are enhanced features: feeds now update every new block (≈1.8 seconds), feeds are enshrined in the Flare core protocol (inheriting its economic security), support for up to ~1000 asset feeds, two weeks of historical data, and improvements in decentralization, speed, and cost-effectiveness. For Kinetic, FTSOv2 plays a critical role in supporting its operations. By providing block-latency, high-frequency price feeds, FTSOv2 enables Kinetic to more precisely assess collateral values and dynamically adjust borrowing limits in near-real time. This reduces lag in reacting to market movements, helping to avoid situations of undercollateralization or overexposure. Flare Developer Hub
Additionally, FTSOv2 strengthens the security, trustworthiness, and robustness of Kinetic’s lending protocol by making price feeds more resistant to manipulation and inaccuracies. Because data providers are selected randomly (stake-weighted), feeds are anchored by scaling feeds with commit-reveal processes, and there are incentives to respond quickly in volatile periods, Kinetic can rely on more stable and trustworthy price inputs. This fosters greater user confidence and supports a more resilient DeFi ecosystem on Flare.
